PRICE-Karen Kay Shiner Copfer, age 75, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 23, 2013.
She was born May 17, 1938 in Price, Utah to Vern and Melba Richens Shiner.
Married Jim Kulow, Sr., they later divorced.  In 1978, she married Jimmy Copfer in Las Vegas, Nevada and together they enjoyed traveling together and making their home in Price.
Kay was a longtime resident of Carbon County where she was employed at Walker Bank, U.S. Steel and she eventually retired from the Applied Technology School at the College of Eastern Utah.  Her home was open to everyone and it was gathering place for all to enjoy.  She was an excellent cook and she loved sharing her dishes with everyone.  Kay loved playing bridge and traveling to Las Vegas and Grand Junction.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to their wonderful neighbors, Dave (Tammy) Hoffman and Evan (Renae) Hansen, caregivers Dr. Nick Hansen and Rick Stockburger from Symbii Home Health and Hospice, dear friends, Dawn, Brenda, Brandi, Kay and Marilyn from the County and the wonderful checkers at Wal-Mart.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Copfer, Price; son, Jim Kulow, Price; daughter, Lori (Mark) Fenner, Grand Junction; many loving grandchildren, and special granddaughter, Rachelle Dittrick, of Grand Junction; sister, Sharon Juliano, Price; brothers, Craig Shiner, Bountiful, David (Nadine) Shiner, Mesquite, Rick (Cathy) Shiner, Price, Larry Shiner, Lyman, WY; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Judy (Brian) Albiser, Las Vegas, NV, Joyce Cunningham, California, Joany Copfer, Price, Jeany Speirs, Price, Jack Copfer, Price, John Copfer, Las Vegas; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, Josephine Copfer; brother-in-law, Fudd Juliano and sister-in-law, Norma Shiner.
Funeral service, Saturday, October 26, 2013, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price.  Family will be at Mitchell’s Friday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior services.  Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Kay at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
