The USU-Eastern Lady Golden Eagles snapped a nine game losing skid as they defeated the Colorado Northwestern Spartans 63-50 in the regular season finale Saturday at the B-DAC in Price.

Looking to avoid a last place finish in the Scenic West Athletic Conference, USU-Eastern battled with Colorado throughout the first half before taking control of the game in the third quarter. Holding a one-point lead at half time, USU-Eastern outscored Colorado 34-22 in the final 20 minutes.

Ana Borges recorded a double-double finishing with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Clarissa Perez added 13 points off of the bench and Barbara Cousino scored 11 points and handed out five assists. Maile Richardson also had a productive game, finishing with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Saturday's win comes despite a lackluster 36-percent shooting performance from the field. USU-Eastern won nearly every major statistical breakdown, including bench points, which turned out to favor the Lady Golden Eagles 24-16.

The win moves USU-Eastern above Colorado in the final conference standings, placing them in a first round matchup with North Idaho. During the conference slate the Lady Golden Eagles lost all three meetings with North Idaho by double-digits.

The conference tournament will begin Thursday, Feb. 25, and is held in true single elimination format. The Lady Golden Eagles will tip-off with North Idaho at 5:30 pm. A win would move them into the semifinals against Salt Lake Community College on Friday.
