Sophomore Philip Winston recorded a triple-double in the regular season finale to lead the USU-Eastern Golden Eagles past the Colorado Northwestern Spartans 83-58 Saturday evening at the B-DAC in Price.

Finishing with 20 points off an efficient 8-16 shooting performance, Winston recorded 10 rebounds and handed out 10 assists in the victory. Playing without fellow sophomore Brandon Sly who is still recovering from a concussion, Winston carried an increased workload playing 37 out of the 40 minutes.

Five of the seven players who suited up for the Golden Eagles finished in double-figures. Solomon Rolls-Tyson scored 18 points and Alexander Morrell chipped in with 16 points and eight boards. Tevin Farris scored 11 in a reserve role, while Austin Anderson donated 10 in the win.

Van Merbin posted 18 points for the Spartans as the team dropped to 0-15 in conference play. Corey Martin finished with 14 points, seven boards and three steals. As a team the Spartans shot a sluggish 38-percent from the field.

Saturday's win gives USU-Eastern a sweep over Colorado Northwestern in the season set, and marks their fourth win in six tries. Ending the regular season with a conference mark of 5-10, the Golden Eagles will enter the Scenic West Athletic Conference tournament the No. 5 seed.

The College of Southern Idaho will play host to the SWAC tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Twin Falls. USU-Eastern will meet Snow College in the opening round, and play for an opportunity to meet the No. 1 seed North Idaho on Friday.

USU-Eastern lost two of the three meetings with Snow College this season, but found success on the road in their last outing defeating Snow College 77-68. Thursday's contest is scheduled for a 7:30 tip-off.
