Bryce Dugmore drove in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning to help the Emery Spartans end a five game losing skid as they defeated the Union Cougars 4-3 in Roosevelt Tuesday afternoon.

Winning for the first time in the state of Utah this season, the Spartans received a complete game effort for Dugmore in the win. Giving up eight hits throughout the contest, Dugmore and the defense kept Union from scoring in four separate innings.

Kyler Stilson finished 2-3 at the plate with double and the scored the eventual winning run in the sixth. Dugmore helped his own cause offensively by registering a triple. As a team the Spartans recorded eight hits.

Improving to 2-6 on the season Tuesday’s win is the first for the Spartans since March 11. The team will look to keep the momentum going as they play host to Delta on Friday in a non-league tilt. Friday’s contest will set the stage for the next region game on April 5 against San Juan.
