The Carbon Dinos track and field team racked up top five finishes in both the boy’s and girl’s categories competing against 15 other schools at the Matt Burr Invitational in Salina on Saturday.

Notching four first place finishes during the meet, the Lady Dinos ended in second place with 124.5, falling just short of first place North Sevier’s 145 point performance. Grand finished third, followed by Titnic and South Sevier.

On the boys side of the competition the Dinos ended in fourth place as they totaled 74 points, using multiple depth finishes to compete. Grand ended up in first place by the slimmest of margins, defeating San Juan and Beaver by one point.

Senior Jordyn Oman finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 13.22. The 4X400 team consisting of Sadie Crompton, Lindsey Blanc, Raquel Cano and Emily Broadbear took home first place with a time 4.28:47. Sara Morley helped the team’s final total, scoring first in both the shot put and discus.

The Lady Dinos managed to score several points in the 400 meters, placing four girls in the top five. Just missing out on first place, Blanc came in second with a time of 1:02:97. Crompton and Oman finished right behind in third and fourth place.

The boys team finished without a first place nod, but did end second in two separate events. Senior Gabe Vandyke ran the 300 meters in 47.14 for a second place nod and helped the 4X100 team alongside Derek Hillam, Cache Barrett and Kyle Quinton to second place as well.

Saturday’s meet was the second and comes following an extended two week spring break. The team will not be much more active, participating in at least one meet a week the remainder of the season.
