After losing four consecutive games the Carbon Lady Dinos earned a 4-0 win over the Richfield Wildcats, improving to 1-1 in Region 12 play Tuesday afternoon.

Kinley Nelson sparked a brilliant defensive performance for the Lady Dinos, striking out 14 batters throughout the contest in the shutout win. Desi Lantz and Chandelle Nichols both recorded doubles and Nelson helped her own cause with a triple.

The win comes at the perfect time for Carbon after experiencing some difficulties since the spring break. After starting the season with a blazing 7-1 record, the Lady Dinos had lost their previous four games by a combined total of 27-9. While only one of the four losses was in league play, the offense was shut out once and held to just two runs twice.

The varsity team will break from Region 12 play when they make their return to the field on Friday as they travel to meet Cottonwood at 3:30 pm. The team’s next league game will take place on Tuesday, April 12 at home against Richfield.
