The Carbon Dinos held an early lead but could not keep pace with the Canyon View Falcons as they fell victim to a three game sweep in the series finale with 7-2 setback Friday afternoon at home.

Holding a 2-1 lead at the end of the second inning, Canyon View scored one run in the third and fourth to take the lead for good. Creating more distance, the Falcons added four runs in the top of the seventh to grab their third straight win over the Dinos.

Anthony Maclean was charged with the loss on the hill in Friday’s setback. Pitching 4.2 frames, Maclean gave up just one earned run and six hits during the outing. Cole Fossat finished the finale two innings giving up six hits and four earned runs, while striking out two.

Carbon struggled to create consistent offensive production as Canyon View received a complete game effort from Cadyn Clark. Taylon Abeyta finished 2-3 at the plate with a single and double. Chase Morgan and Dallyn Mower both finished with one RBI.

Friday’s loss puts Carbon in a tie with North Sanpete, who also suffered a season opening sweep, for fourth place in the current standings. Richfield completed the sweep over North Sanpete on Friday afternoon, while Juab remained idle for the first week of league action.

Carbon will now take a week off of league play before returning to the field on April 19 against the Richfield Wildcats at home in double-header action.
