Despite playing a solid game offensively the Emery Lady Spartans were plagued by multiple errors in key situations as they suffered a 12-6 loss to the San Juan Broncos in Blanding Friday afternoon.

After jumping out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first frame, the Lady Spartans gave up 11 straight unanswered runs between the third, fourth and fifth innings. While giving up only four hits for the contest, Emery notched 13 errors as they dropped to 0-2 in region play.

Ashlun Clark was charged with the loss on the mound, allowing just two hits and no earned runs in three innings of work. During her time on the hill San Juan scored seven runs, none of which were earned. Bailey Huggard also spent time on the hill posting a similar stat line of just two hits allowed.

Jessica Mason finished 4-5 and recorded a triple to go along with two RBI for the Lady Spartans. Addy Healy ended 2-4 in the box and also posted two RBI, while Jacie Huntington logged three hits in three at bats.

Friday’s loss dips the Lady Spartans to 0-2 in 2A East play and 5-7 overall. Emery will have an opportunity to log their first region win of the season on Tuesday when they welcome in the Gunnison Bulldogs.
