The Emery Spartans played host to seven other schools for the Darrell Gardner Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.

Delivering a dynamic performance in front of the home crowd, the Emery boys team cruised to a victory scoring 177 points. Carbon finished in second with 133 points and San Juan finished in third with 109.5. Grand, Monticello, Pinnacle and Lake Powell rounded out the field of seven on the boy’s side.

The Carbon Lady Dinos easily grabbed first place as they accumulated 233 points, topping second place Grand by 106. The Lady Spartans finished in third with 119.5, followed San Juan, Juab, Monticello and Pinnacle.

Jordyn Oman led the Lady Dinos with three individual first place finishes. Dominating throughout the meet, Oman finished first in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. Sarah Morley followed close behind with first place nods in both the shot put and discus. Zaharah Rossi ended first in the 3200 meters, Emily Broadbear notched first place in the 800 meters and Lindsey Blanc topped teammate Morgan Hillam for first in the javelin.

The Lady Dinos also fared well in the relay events. The sprint medley team consisting of Madelyn Christensen, Raquel Cano, Lindsey Blanc and Sadie Crompton finished first with a time of 4:32.30. Cano, Blanc, Crompton and Broadbear also finished first in the 4X400 with a time of 4:26.46.

Senior Paytn Jeffs led the Lady Spartans with first place finishes in the long and high jump. Erin Hurst also finished first in the 1600 meters, ending with a time of 5:35.64.

The Emery boys team received a huge boost from Logan Cox, who managed first place finishes in the 100, 200 and 400 meters. Tyler Olsen notched first place in the high jump and Chase Jewkes took home first in the javelin.

The Carbon boys 4X100 team consisting of Cache Barrett, Derek Hillam, Gabe Vandyke and Kyle Quinton finished first. Carbon later took home another gold medal in a relay event, this time the 4X400 comprised of Quinton, Hillam Carter Fausett and Michael Urbanik. Quinton also nabbed first place in the long jump.
