After a highly successful regular season the Carbon Dinos track and field team traveled to Nephi for the Region 12 finale hosted by Juab High School on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Finishing the meet with 62 points, the Lady Dinos gathered a third place finish. Richfield delivered a dominating effort scoring 111 points, followed by Canyon View in second with 82. Juab and North Sanpete finished behind Carbon to round out the field.

The Carbon boys team struggled to a fifth place finish scoring just 24 points throughout the meet. Juab claimed first with a 92 point performance, followed by Canyon View’s 88. Richfield and North Sanpete finished third and fourth.

Senior Sarah Morley grabbed region championships in both the shot put and discus to lead Carbon to their only first place nods. Sarah Ohlwiler finished second in the 100 meters and long jump, while Lindsey Blanc also finished second in the 400 meters.

On the boys side of the track junior Kyle Quinton gave Carbon their highest individual finish by ending second in the long jump.

With the region meet now in the books the team will turn their attention to the state finale on May 20 and 21 at Brigham Young University in Provo. The team recently participated in the BYU Invitational last weekend, which works as a tune up for the state tournament.
