Brock Fausett has been appointed head coach of the Carbon High School wrestling program, replacing interim coach Josh Huntsman. The hiring was announced by Athletic Director Ted Bianco.

Fausett, who is a former teacher in the Carbon County School District, served as an assistant last season under head coach Steve Woodhouse. After Woodhouse resigned, Fausett took on a larger role to help the team finish the season.

“We are excited to have coach Fausett taking over,” said Bianco. “I know he will do a great job. He had a lot of success when he was at Mont Harmon and did a lot of great things with the kids this past year.”

Fausett served as the head coach of the Mont Harmon Junior High School wrestling team from 2000 to 2006. During his time at Mont Harmon he also served as an assistant at Carbon under head coaches Dave Smith and John Watkins.

“Things have fallen into place and I’m happy to be a help to the boys here locally,” Fausett said on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports. “I’m excited to get things going because we have high expectations and big plans.”

Fausett graduated from Carbon in 1994 and wrestled three seasons under then head coach Robert Cox. Teaching for over six years at the junior high level, Fausett stepped away from coaching and teaching to pursue a different career path. He believes the timing of this opportunity was perfect.

“Helping Steve last year was a saving grace because it helped get me back into the sport and I’m invested.” said Fausett. “I have boys coming up that want to wrestle and I love the personalities of the younger kids that are coming up. Wrestling is just a great sport to be involved with.”

Without holding a teaching job on campus, Fausett says he will lean on Huntsman to help recruit kids.
