East Carbon City would like everyone to come out and celebrate their annual Community Daze celebration on Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9.

Festivities will kick off at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 8 as Mayor Doug Parsons explains, “Friday we’re going to do the satellite Coal Miner Memorial which is going to be at 1 o’clock at our Tribute Park, its right where Miners parking lot is. Then after that it will be the Miner’s block party which will start at 3 o’clock and then we have the rodeo going on starting at 7:30 pm on Friday night.”

Then on Saturday, July 9 a parade will kick off at 10:00 am beginning at Miner’s Trading Post and ending at the park. Any businesses and/or civic groups are invited to participate in the parade by arriving at Miner’s Trading Post at 9:00 am that morning to check in with parade chairperson.

“After the parade there will be Fun in The Park, there will be bouncers, vendors; the bouncers themselves will be free to the kids, the Bo Huff Car Show which will be going on also in the Sunnyside Park and also a couple of live bands along with the Bo Huff Car Show,” said Parsons. The car show will feature bands Brian Lee Dunning, Victor Trevino Jr. and Mad Max and the Wild Ones. There will also be a Pinup and Pompadour contest held during the car show. There will be a horseshoe competition for local enthusiasts both a singles and doubles tournament. Registration is set to begin after the parade and the cost is $10.00 per person, with prizes awarded to the top three teams.

Parsons finished with, “If you haven’t been there it would be something different for you to come out and look at; like I said the activities in the park itself we have are free things for the kids to do. There are vendors with food and other different items for sale.”  Carbon County Recreation will have the climbing wall for adults and kids to enjoy throughout the day.

Vendors in the park will have items such as clothing, sun glasses, homemade crafts and don’t forget the delicious food items like barbeque pork, hamburgers, Navajo Tacos, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.  If you would like to set up a vendor’s booth there is still plenty of time to register by calling City Hall at (435) 888-6613.
