The Carbon Cal Ripken 10 year old stars will join nine other teams in the Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament beginning Monday, July 18 in Rohnert Park, Calif.

After clinching the state championship with a dominating victory over South Sevier in June, Carbon qualified for the championship tournament for the third consecutive year. This year’s team is once again coach by Shane Henrie.

Carbon is one of 10 teams to advance to the regional tournament. Those 10 teams have been divided into two separate divisions, meaning each team will play four games against their division. The top two seeds from each pool will then meet in a single elimination tournament to decide the regional championship.

Carbon has been placed in the Bill Ripken pool, placing them with Northern Utah (Riverton), Southern California (Long Beach), Hawaii (Hi Diamond), and Northern California (Elk Grove). The Cal Ripken pool will feature Central California (Visalia), Nevada (Silver State), Arizona (Surprise), Northern California (Laguna).

The first game of the tournament for Carbon will take place on Monday, July 18 against Northern Utah. The team will then play Tuesday and Wednesday, before taking the day off on Thursday. Pool play will wrap up on Friday.
