The 5th annual Beat the Heat doubles horseshoe tournament took place Saturday at Washington Park in Price.

Ryan Olsen and Rhett Popejoy took home the championship in one of the biggest payouts of the year. Josh Eden and Casey Norton finished second and Kenny Blake and Matt Williams rounded out the top three in the competition.

The team of Olsen and Popejoy entered the championship match undefeated. Eden and Norton climbed through the one-loss bracket and managed to beat Olsen/Popejoy once to force a decisive championship game.

Nine total teams participated in the annual tournament that lasted roughly four hours. The next tournament will be one of the biggest of the year and run in conjunction with International Days on July 30.
