The 2016-17 high school sports season is right around the corner and those sports that run through the fall sports season are gearing up for action.

The first official game for the Carbon Dinos will take place on the soccer field as the team travels on the road to meet South Sevier on Aug. 16. The Lady Dinos will continue the season on Aug. 18 as they travel to Grand, and will participate in their first home contest of the season on Aug. 19 against North Sevier.

Football will not be far behind soccer as the Dinos open the season on Aug. 19 at home against the Manti Templars. Entering their second season under head coach Josh Huntsman, the Dinos will travel on the road for the next two weeks against Ben Lomond and Snow Canyon. The first region contest of the year will be homecoming on Sept. 16 against Emery.

Looking to build off of last year’s fifth place performance at the state meet, the boys golf team will start the season at Richfield on Aug. 18. The team will play host to their lone home meet on Sept. 8 at the Carbon Country Club golf course.

The cross country team will start the season on Aug. 24 at the Moab Invitational. Sept. 21 will mark the lone home meet for the Dinos as they play host to the Carbon Invitational. This year’s region meet will take place in North Sanpete on Oct. 11.

Girl’s tennis will start the season Aug. 18. The team will travel to meet Union and Uintah on the road, but will play host to Canyon View on Aug. 23.

The volleyball season will begin when the Lady Dinos travel to Wasatch on Aug. 26 and 27. The first home game will be on Sept. 7 and region play will start up six days later against Canyon View.
