The International Days committee is excited to add a brand new event called Kidsmobile Derby to this year’s International Days festivities. The event will be held on Saturday, July 30 with registration from 10:00 am till 1:00 pm. Races are open to children ages 7 to 10-years of age. Participants can either race a car they have built on their own as per the construction specs on the Price City website or individuals can use a Kidsmobile derby car on site.

“As a first year event, we hope a lot of people will participate but we want it to be an annual thing to build these cars and to race them, kids love this stuff and we want to involve the kids in the International Days celebration,” said Jim Bethel, Event Organizer.

“All those that want to race, 10:00 am till 1:00 pm need to come over to 100 East 600 North and register and let us know that you are going to race. We will give everyone a driver’s license to put them in a category so they will be racing with the similar age and gender, this is for boys and girls.” Registration will close as soon as the first race begins.

During registration cars will be inspected to make sure all safety precautions have been taken. “We have helmets but we encourage everyone to bring their own helmet of course. There are seatbelts on the cars that we furnish and all the cars that get made need to have seatbelts also. It’s exciting, I’ve done a practice run with various age kids. We just want them to come and have fun,” stated Bethel.

Community members are urged to come watch the kids race. “At 1 o’clock we will start the races. They younger group the seven and eight-year-old boys will race for half-hour, then the seven and eight-year-old girls will race for half-hour from 1:30 pm till 2:00 pm. Then we will have a similar thing for nine-year-old boys and the nine-year-old girls, and then the ten-year-old boys and ten-year old girls,” said Bethel.

Following the races there will be an awards ceremony for top three winners in each category, as well as certificates for showmanship of cars, a trophy will be awarded for the fastest time and every participate will receive a participation patch.
