The Carbon Lady Dinos opened Region 12 play with a bang as they earned a 2-1 victory over the Juab Wasps on the road Wednesday afternoon.

Grace Broadbear and Elley Cowdell each scored a goal for Carbon to help end a four game win-less streak. Wednesday’s win improves the team to 2-5-1 overall, but more importantly 1-0 in league play.

Entering league play with a 1-5-1 record, the Lady Dinos kept the Wasps out of rhythm with their stiff, consistent defense. Kelsey Sorenson helped pave the way for Carbon playing goalie throughout the contest.

With Region 12 action now off and rolling, Carbon will continue the season on Thursday as they play host to North Sanpete. Also starting the league season on Wednesday, North Sanpete suffered a 2-0 loss to the Richfield Wildcats.

Thursday will be the final game of the week for the Lady Dinos. The league season will pick up once again on Tuesday, Sept. 13 against Canyon View.
