Two second half goals propelled the Emery Lady Spartans past the Grand Red Devils in a 2-1 thriller Tuesday afternoon in Moab.

Looking to rebound from a lopsided region opening loss against Manti, the Lady Spartans trailed 1-0 entering break. Morgan Hurdsman scored two goals in the final frame to put Emery up for good as the squad improved to 1-1 in Region 15 action.

Tuesday’s win ends a three game win-less streak for Emery, which started back on Aug. 30 with a loss to North Sanpete. The victory also gives the Lady Spartans an upper hand on the Red Devils in the standings, now one game ahead in the loss column.

Emery will look for their second straight win as they play the middle contest of a three-game road trip Thursday against North Sevier. The road trip will come to end on Tuesday as the team travels to Gunnison.
