A total of 18 schools, including the Emery Spartans, traveled to the Skyline Mountain Resort to participate in the Sanpete Invitational Wednesday afternoon.

Competing against schools of all classifications, the Emery boys team managed to finish fifth overall, accumulating 126 point to comfortably finish above sixth place Grantsville. Stansbury recorded the top score of 47, followed by Canyon View, Salem Hills and Richfield.

The Lady Spartans ended 12th overall despite a solid performance from Erin Hurst. Stansbury claimed the first place nod, with Provo, Salem Hills, Manti and Canyon View rounding out the top five.

Ty Funk delivered the top time for the boys team, finishing 14th as he finished in 17.49.3. Chase Christiansen ended in 22nd, finished just ahead of teammate Tanyon Allred. McKay Meccariello finished 30th, Griffin Livingston 42nd and Lane Taylor 55th.

Erin Hurst recorded the highest individual finish for the Lady Spartans coming in 13th place with a time of 20:58.3. Belle Bowers came in 50th, finishing in 23.28.4, followed by Tarryn Parkins in 67th. Katelyn Hurst ended in 78th and Allyson Woolsey finished 80th.

Wednesday’s meet sets the stage for the final competition before the regional finale on Oct. 11 at North Sevier. Up next Emery will travel to San Juan on Wednesday, Oct. 5. Stay tuned to Castle Country Radio for the results as soon as they become available.
