Pinnacle Canyon Academy Schools are well into the school year and have been very busy hosting various activities for the students in both elementary and secondary. Mr. Stuckenschneider, better known to the students as Mr. S stopped into the Castle Country Radio Stations to let the community know what the school has been up to.

“We have a really exciting week in our Secondary, it is homecoming week. There’s a different theme every week, today was the 50s, yesterday was dress like the roaring 20’s, so it is a good thing. We have lots of other stuff going on every night there’s an activity at the school,” said Mr. S. A volleyball game, region cross country, bomb fire and a movie night are some of the activities students may attend for homecoming.

Pinnacle always strives to include parent involvement when it comes to their student. “We have a math parent night coming up on Wednesday, November 2. We definitely know that the new way of common core is expecting kids to do math can be very confusing for parents especially and we just want to make sure that all of our parents have a good understanding of what those educational expectations are,” stated Mr. S. The afterschool program is in full swing Monday thru Wednesday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Thursdays 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm due to the Strengthening Families program, and Fridays 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

“We have Ballet West coming next week to do a performance for our elementary that’s going to be an absolute excellent opportunity for us. Our high school is putting together and starting a production of High School Musical, it will be airing in the Spring, they don’t have an exact date set yet, but our plans are to use the Rio Theatre in Helper. As a school we’re definitely are continuing to promote the Arts this year which is one of our biggest focuses,” said Mr. S. The school has been able to really emphasize on the Arts due to the addition of a new teacher this year who has a Master’s Degree in the Performing Arts.

The sixth grade students just returned from their annual trip to Washington DC, as Mr. S explains further, “Our kids that went to Washington DC just returned from the trip a couple of weeks ago and that was just an excellent activity to actually go back and see all the cool things of the history of the United States rather than reading about it in a book.” Fifth grade students help with the Annual Wild West Fundraiser in March so that they may go on the annual trip during their sixth grade year.
