The Carbon Dinos completed the 2016 cross country season with a positive showing at the 3A state championship meet Wednesday at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake City.

After qualifying for the state championship meet with a Region 12 title last week, the Lady Dinos ended eighth overall. The boys squad produced two top 100 individual finishes, which put them in 15th place.

Desert Hills claimed the state championship on the boys side of the track, topping second place Pine View by four points. Stansbury, Canyon View and Hurricane completed the top five. Pine View delivered a state championship on the girls side, defeating Desert Hills by 20. Cedar, Park City and Stansbury rounded out the top five.

Emily Broadbear delivered the highest individual finish for the Lady Dinos, ending in 10th place with a time of 19:02.7. Sadie Crompton, Grace Broadbear and Regan Hansen all finished in the top 60 and Emma Haddock finished 75th to complete the scorers for the final point total.

Drew Jones delivered the fastest time on the boys side of the track for Carbon, ending the race in 17:50.5 for a 72nd place finish. Jones was followed by Anthony Jones who was 11 seconds behind ending in 82nd. Logan Engar, Paul Bryner and Jacob Jewkes logged the final three scores for Carbon.
