The 2016 football campaign came to a close for the Carbon Dinos Wednesday evening as they suffered a 27-0 loss to the Richfield Wildcats in a non-league road tilt.

The two teams entered the final game of the regular season sharing identical 0-9 records. The loss extends Carbon’s current losing streak to 17 and stops Richfield’s, which had reached ten.

Junior Nathan Olson once again delivered a solid outing for the Dinos, accumulating 148 yards off of 27 carries. As a team Carbon combined for 199 yards.

After a scoreless first quarter the Wildcats broke the tie as quarterback Emmitt Hafen connected with Tason Lacorti on a four yard touchdown pass. Lacorti added six more to Richfield’s total, leading to a 13-0 advantage at the break.

Once again playing to a scoreless tie in the third quarter, Richfield took advantage of multiple Carbon miscues to add 14 more points in the final 12 minutes. Lacorti capped the game off with his third touchdown, this time scoring from 36-yards out.

Wednesday’s shutout loss was the fourth of its kind this season for the Dinos. The team’s highest scoring output of the season came in week two as they scored 15 points against Ben Lomond.

The bright spot of the season for the team comes from Olson, who rushed for 1,026 yards. The next closest was Collin Lewis with 235 yards.
