The Emery Spartans and Carbon Dinos continued the swimming season as they joined 14 other schools in Cedar City for the Cedar Invitational Friday and Saturday.

After a dominating performance in their first meet of the season at home on Nov. 4, the Emery Spartans boy’s team logged a sixth place finish by tallying 131 points. Pleasant Grove cruised to a first place finish with 399 points, followed by Davis, Tooele, Cedar and Desert Hills. The Carbon boy’s team finished 14th with 42 points.

The Carbon Lady Dinos recorded multiple top five finishes to end eighth overall. The Lady Spartans failed to finish top five in any of the 22 events, but still finished ninth overall with 85 points. Cedar City posted 348 points to grab first place and top Desert Hills. Davis, Pleasant Grove and Grand rounded out the top five.

Daryl Guymon continued to lead the Emery boy’s team as he finished second in the 100 yard free and fifth in the 50 yard free. Last week Guymon claimed individual first place finishes in the 200 yard IM and 100 yard fly.

With two meets now in the books the Spartans will take the week off before returning to the pool on Tuesday, Nov. 22. Following next Tuesday’s meet the swim team will travel on the road for the remainder of the 2016 calendar year.

Veronica Ibanez logged a third place finish in the 500 yard free and a fourth place nod in the 200 yard free to lead the Lady Dinos. Sadie Crompton ended third in the 100 yard breast stroke. Ibanez, along with Crompton, Amanda Liu and Megan Swasey teamed to finish fifth in the 200 yard medley.

Carbon will next jump in the pool on Wednesday as the team travels to Richfield. The next home meet will take place on Friday, Nov. 18.
