The Carbon Dinos swim team played host to their first meet of the season as they welcomed Uintah, Canyon View and Gunnison to the Desert Wave Pool Friday afternoon.

The Lady Dinos used five first place finishes to accumulate 369 points, which was good enough for second overall. Uintah grabbed first place with 418 points. Canyon View and Gunnison finished third and fourth to round out the field.

Carbon’s boys team failed to record a first place finish, but did total 283 points to end in third place. Uintah again claimed first with 420 points, followed by Canyon View in second with 390. Gunnison rounded out the field of four in last.

Sadie Crompton continued her highly successful season with first place finishes in the 100 yard fly and breaststroke. Crompton also helped Megan Swasey, Veronica Ibanez and Amanda Liu to a first place win in the 200 yard medley.

Liu easily claimed first place in the 200 yard IM as she finished in 2:34.23, topping second place Kia Jones from Uintah High School by 16 seconds. Ibanez logged the team’s other first place finish in the 500 yard free, finishing nearly 10 seconds faster than second place.

With four meets now in the books the Dinos will take the rest of the week off for Thanksgiving, before resuming the season on Nov. 29 at home. The team will then travel to Uintah for an Invitational on Dec. 1.
