The Emery Lady Spartans opened a 22-point first quarter lead, and never looked back as they romped past South Summit 56-28 Tuesday night in Kamas.

Lainee Jensen led Emery as she connected on six three-point tries for a game-high 21 points. As a team the Lady Spartans hit nine shots from behind the perimeter, while keeping South Summit scoreless from beyond the arc.

Using stiff defense the Lady Spartans opened a 26-4 by the end of the first quarter before taking their foot off of the gas in the second. Entering the third period up 32-12, Emery again had a dominating quarter as they outscored South Summit 16-6. The fourth quarter was a mere formality as the Lady Spartans improved to 1-0 on the season.

Kinlee Toomer worked as a solid second option offensively for the Lady Spartans as she poured in 10 points. Bailey Huggard and Megan Jensen both scored six, and Hailey Jo Allred and Morgan Hurdsman scored four.

The Lady Spartans will now take a week off before returning to the court on Nov. 29 against South Sevier on the road. The first home game of the season will take place next Friday as the team plays host to North Summit.
