The Emery Spartans boys basketball team moved their unbeaten record to 4-0 with a blowout 98-29 victory over the Green River Pirates Tuesday night in Green River.

Koby Butler led 10 other Emery scorers with 20 points in the lopsided win. Junior Easton Gordon poured in a career varsity best 19, and Brax Jensen also scored his varsity best with 13. Keaton McDermott finished with nine and five others scored six.

Emery imposed their dominance on Green River early, outscoring them 24-7 in the opening quarter. The Spartans continued to roll in the second as they carried a 49-14 lead into the break.

Defensively Emery was brilliant throughout the evening as they held the Pirates to under double-digits in the first three quarters. The comfortable lead allowed the Spartans to play several underclassmen in the second half.

After starting the season off with four consecutive road games the Spartans will finally play their first in front of the hometown crowd Friday evening against the Millard Eagles. Last season the two teams battled throughout an entertaining contest before the Spartans secured a 56-54 win.

Friday will be the first back-to-back home games for Emery. The second will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 14 when the Delta Rabbits come to town for a non-region tilt.
