The Emery Lady Spartans bounced back from their first loss of the season as they defeated the North Sanpete Hawks 51-35 Tuesday evening at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

Megan Jensen scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down five rebounds to lead the Lady Spartans to their third victory in four tries. Lainee Jensen knocked down four three-point shots to finish with 12 points, and Kinlee Toomer chipped in with 10.

Holding a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter the Lady Spartans widened the gap with as they outscored North Sanpete 13-3 in the second period. Adding six more points to their advantage in the third, Emery strolled through the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Angela Clayton paced the Lady Hawks with 13 points in the losing effort. Abby Smith contributed six, while both Lexie Olson and Madison Clark finished with three. The loss dips North Sanpete to 2-3 on the season.

Now 3-1 following the victory the Lady Spartans will look to continue their winning ways when they play host to 3A championship contender Richfield on Thursday. So far this season the Lady Wildcats have raced out to a 4-0 record with wins over Salem Hills, Pleasant Grove, Logan and Delta.

Tip-off for Thursday’s non-region tilt is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM. Following the home contest the Lady Spartans will travel on the road to meet 1A Duchesne.
