A turnover plagued first half doomed the USU-Eastern Eagles in a lopsided 80-59 setback to the Snow College Badgers in Scenic West Athletic Conference play Thursday night at the B-DAC in Price.

The Eagles trailed the Badgers 47-18 entering the break after shooting just 23-percent from field, while committing 14 turnovers. USU-Eastern recovered for a solid second half, but the 29-point deficit was too much to overcome.

Quinn Peters posted a team high 19 points for the Eagles as they dipped to 1-6 in conference play. Cam Bailey just missed out on a double-double, finishing with 10 rebounds and nine points. Roman McNight finished with eight points, five rebounds and four blocks.

Snow College freshman Zach Hunsaker hit his season average with 20 points and three steals to lead the Badgers to their sixth conference victory. Romain Boxus again provided a spark off of the bench connecting from deep four times to score 14 points. Riley Panter and Blake Truman both scored 12 in the balanced win.

For the second time in as many meetings between the two teams this season, the Badgers bench easily outscored USU-Eastern. While the Eagles had just 13 second unit points, Snow finished with 28, which helped extend their largest lead to 33 with just 7:32 to play in the game.

Snow College currently sits at the top of the SWAC standings, now 6-1 following Thursdays’ win. USU-Eastern is tied with Colorado Northwestern at the bottom of the conference for fourth place.

Now 1-6 in conference action the Eagles will turn their focus to the College of Southern Idaho Golden Eagles on Saturday at the B-DAC. The two teams first met back on Jan. 12 in Twin Falls. CSI stormed past the Eagles with a 95-73 victory.
