The USU-Eastern women’s basketball suffered a season ending 66-47 loss to the No. 7th ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins Friday evening in the semifinals of the Scenic West Athletic Conference Tournament in Taylorsville.

Falling behind 20-8 by the end of the first quarter, the Lady Eagles were unable to recover against the host school Salt Lake. Friday’s loss marked the fourth in five tries against the Bruins. USU-Eastern was one of only two teams to top Salt Lake during conference play.

Autumn Kay scored a team-high 12 points to lead the Lady Eagles in the loss. Madison Loftus finished with eight points as she struggled to get touches, ending 1-6 from the field. Mateah Tuckett and Kaitlin Toluono both finished with seven.

Salt Lake center Annie Brady led a potent attack with a game-high 21 points, in only 24 minutes of action. Freshman guard Tia Hay finished with 13 points, four rebounds and six assists, while Sica Cuzic chipped in with eight.

Struggling to find consistency on offense throughout the game, the Lady Eagles finished a pedestrian 30-percent from the field for the game and 25-percent deep. Adding to the struggles on offense, USU-Eastern committed 20 turnovers for the contest.

Friday’s win propelled Salt Lake into the conference championship game Saturday, where they easily defeated to Snow College to clinch the league title.
