The 2017-18 high school sports season is right around the corner and those that will run through the fall months are gearing up for action.

The first official game for the Carbon Dinos will take place on the soccer field as the Lady Dinos host the South Sevier Rams on Aug. 8. The Lady Dinos will continue the season on Aug. 12 as they travel to Gunnison.

Looking to build off of last year’s second straight fifth place performance at the state meet, the boys golf team will start the season at the Fox Hollow Golf Course on Aug. 8. The team will play host to their lone home meet on Sept. 7 at the Carbon Country Club golf course.

Football will not be far behind soccer and golf as the Dinos open the season on Aug. 18 on the road against the Manti Templars. Entering season three under head coach Josh Huntsman, the Dinos will play their first home game on Aug. 25 against Payson. The first region contest of the year will be Sept. 15 against Union.

The cross country team will start the season on Aug. 25 at Payson. Sept. 20 will mark the lone home meet for the Dinos as they play host to the Carbon Invitational. This year’s region meet will take place at Maeser Prep on Oct. 11.

Under the instruction of new head coach Julie Shettell, the volleyball season will begin for Carbon when they travel to Emery on Aug. 24. The first home game will be on Aug. 29 against Altamont.
