On 8-9-17 at 0725 Price City Officer Randy Salyer was dispatched to an auto-burglary in progress in the Sagewood neighborhood area of northeast Price. A description of a fleeing white adult female was given. Carbon County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tory Christiansen responded to assist as well, and intercepted Jennifer R. Johnson, DOB 4-24-82 (of Price), who closely matched the suspect description, at the corner of Sagewood Rd. and Cedar Hills Dr. Officer Salyer arrived within a minute of this contact.
After miranda warnings, Ms. Johnson allegedly provided information and property connecting her to the reported auto burglary. Because of Ms. Johnson’s alleged previous history, she was booked on a felony level auto-burglary and theft charge.
After her booking, two additional auto-burglary reports were received in the same neighborhood. Ms. Johnson was re-interviewed by Officer Salyer and allegedly provided information and property linking her to both new reported incidents was located in her property at the jail. Ms. Johnson was also charged with those two offenses. The Carbon County Attorney’s Office will review reports and file appropriate formal charges.
According to court records, Ms. Johnson has 12 previous arrests, including convictions for felony level burglary and two retail thefts.
The investigation revealed that all vehicles were left unlocked and thus were easy targets. The Price City Police Department would like to remind citizens to always lock their vehicles, even when parked at home, and to remove valuables and keys after securing their vehicles.
