PRICE, UTAH – Utah State Eastern men’s soccer tied and lost to the College of Southern Nevada over the weekend to begin Scenic West Athletic Conference play in Las Vegas.

Friday’s match against CSN went to double overtime and ended in a 2-2 tie with the Coyotes.

CSN’s Manuel Ponce scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Momodou Kinteh in the 27′ minute.

The Eagles were shutout at halftime by CSN as their goalie Miguel Navarrete put up seven saves during the first period.

Just after the beginning of the second half, CSN scored off a penalty kick by Marcos DelAngel-Parr.

USU Eastern rebounded five minutes later with a goal by Frank Debry with an assist from Pacifique Misi.

In the 67′ minute sophomore Omar Suarez scored the game-tying goal with an assist from Guillermo Hernandez.

Neither team could score a goal after that and it ended with a tie.

Goalkeeper Austin Munoz was in net for the Eagles and had 13 saves.

The next day the Eagles lost to CSN 2-1 after giving up a 1-0 lead at halftime.

Freshman Jojea Kwizera scored a goal in the 26′ minute of the game with an assist from Misi.

After halftime CSN quickly scored a goal from a scissor kick from Juan Rodriguez.

With less than 10 minutes left in regulation, CSN’s German Martinez scored a goal to help clinch the victory for CSN.

The Eagles ended the weekend 0-1-1 against CSN and Head Coach Ammon Bennett thought his team played well.

“The team played well and I think we are progressing in the right direction,” said Bennett.

The Eagles will open their conference home schedule this Friday and Saturday when Salt Lake Community College comes to Price.
