PRICE, UTAH – Utah State Eastern women’s soccer picked up their first conference win of the season Saturday after defeating the College of Southern Nevada 3-2.

The Eagles played the College of Southern Nevada on Friday as well and tied the Coyotes 2-2 after double-overtime.

Freshman Sylvie Call scored the first goal of Friday’s match to give the Eagles a lead going into halftime with an assist from McKenna Wiscombe in the 34′ minute.

CSN’s Shae Hollan scored the first goal for the Coyotes to tie the game up in 52′ minute of the second half.

The Eagles took the lead 12 minutes later thanks to a goal from Kallie Magby.

Three minutes later CSN’s Ashlee Jordan tied the game up at two goals apiece with an assist from Jazmin Centeno.

Neither team could score a goal in the overtime periods and the game resulted in a tie.

In goal for the Eagles on Friday was sophomore Shyann Jones who finished the game with eight saves.

On Saturday both teams went to battle again with the USU Eastern prevailing to pick up their first conference win of the season.

Sophomore Kori Jorgensen picked up her fourth goal of the season in the first ten minutes of the match to give the Eagles an early lead.

Wiscombe added to the USU Eastern lead with a goal of her own six minutes later with an assist from Morgan Hall.

In the 25′ minute Kaitlyn Sisler scored an unassisted goal to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead at halftime.

CSN began started their comeback attempt with a goal by Jordan in the 67′ minute to cut the Eagles’ lead to 3-1.

Before the end of regulation, the Coyotes added another goal from Sydni Aldan but that would be their final goal of the game giving USU Eastern the 3-2 win.

After the game, Head Coach Ammon Bennett said he was impressed despite the late scoring from CSN.

“They played well with some goals coming from questionable calls at the end but held on for the win with it being a scramble toward the end,” said Bennett.

With the win, the Eagles overall record sits at 4-1-1 and a conference record of 1-0-1.

The Eagles will open up their home conference schedule this weekend with matches on Friday and Saturday against Salt Lake Community College.
