Many senior drivers are unaware that they are able to cut the cost of their auto insurance by taking a Driver Safety Course. That opportunity will present itself on Thursday, October 19 at the Carbon County Senior Center.

The Senior Center is sponsoring an AARP Driver Safety Class from 1:00 to 5:00 PM. The course will take place at the Senior Center, and will provide several short videos and a workbook. Dealing not only with the changes that place with drivers as they age, but also information about changes with the newer automobiles, and the changing roads and highways we use. The class will also discuss the latest highway rules and regulations that have been passed.

By law, in Utah, drivers over 55 years of age can receive a discount. Different auto insurance companies determine what discount they offer. By taking an AARP Driver Safety Class, drivers are eligible to receive the discount which is good for three years. If both spouses take the class they will both receive the discount.

There are no tests given, nor written or actual driving given and the class is open to not only AARP members, but others as well. The cost of the four-hour class is $15.00 for AARP members, and $20.00 for others. To sign up for the class contact the Senior Center at (435) 636-3202.
