After opening the basketball season on the road this past weekend, the USU Eastern men and women will play host to their first set of home games Friday and Saturday at the BDAC in Price.

The Lady Eagles will start the action Friday night against the Utah All-Stars at 5:30 p.m.. The men will host Impact Academy immediately after. The women will open the double-header Saturday, this time against Laramie County at 3:00 pm.. The men will follow in a rematch with Impact Academy at 5:30.

The men are in search of their first victory after opening the season 0-2 on the road in Casper, Wyo. After suffering a 90-65 loss to Central Wyoming, the team ended the weekend with a 68-57 loss to Casper College.

“We have a group of guys that really want to compete,” said first year assistant coach Ray Jones Jr. “We are building and trying to figure things out. I think when it glues together we are going to be a team in this conference that will be a problem.”

Friday and Saturday will be two of the team’s four home non-conference games. The difficult pre-season schedule features a total of 13 road games leading up to the Scenic West Athletic Conference opener on Jan. 6 against Salt Lake Community College.

The USU Eastern Lady Eagles will enter Friday’s home contest with a record of 1-1. Falling to Casper College 81-64 in the season opener, the Lady Eagles rebounded the following day with a 92-50 win over Central Wyoming.

“In the loss we started out in a 10-0 hole and never quit. I was happy with the way we played despite the slow start,” said assistant coach Morgan Warburton-Nelson. “To be able to turn things around the next day and put a hurt on our opponent after a hard game was great.”

Like the men, the women will also play the majority of their non-conference action on the road. After the weekend home set, the Lady Eagles will play the next eight on the road before returning home on Dec. 8 against Chemeketa Community College.

All home games this season will stream live at USU Eastern Athletics’ YouTube channel, and on koalitv.com. KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM will also once again serve as the radio play by play home of the Eagles.
