The Emery Lady Spartans improved to 3-1 in Region 15 play with a 81-18 thumping of the Manti Templars Thursday evening at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

Emery exploded offensively out of the gate, racing out to a 32-3 by the end of the first quarter. The domination continued throughout game as the Lady Spartans prevented the Templars from scoring double-figures in any of the four quarters.

Lainee Jensen posted a team-best 20 points, including six makes from deep, to lead Emery in the win. Megan Jensen finished with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Morgan Hurdsman scored 10 points in a starting role.

Thursday’s win marks the third consecutive for Emery after dropping the division opener against Richfield on Jan. 2. During that time frame the Lady Spartans have won each game by an average of 44 points.

Region play will continue for Emery with another home tilt on Tuesday against the Grand Red Devils. Entering Friday’s contest against Richfield, Grand is unbeaten in Region 15 action at 2-0. Tuesday’s home match is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m..
