The Carbon School District weekly update allows representatives from each of the schools to visit with Castle Country Radio. This forum allows the community to learn about what is happening at the featured school which is Castle Heights Elementary this week.

“This is the time of year where we’re really looking towards the end, so we are getting prepared. You know, you would like to say we have a few months to go but it will come fast and the teachers and the students are working at a furious pace to get ready,” said Principal, Chris Winfree. “What we do is take their beginning of the year scores, then we just done our mid-year assessments and we sit down with each student one-on-one and we look at the individual areas that they grew in.” Teachers and students determine the growth that has been made since school started and set some realistic goals to meet for the remainder of the year.

The sit down works great for when it’s time for parent/teacher conferences. “Coming up for Castle Heights our parent/teach conferences start Monday, February 12 at 1:30 pm and also on Tuesday, February 13. For parents if you haven’t had a chance to sign-up for parent teach conferences there is actually a link on our school’s website,” said Winfree. Due to the long hours teachers put in each night for parent/teacher conferences there will be no school on Friday, February 16, plus the school will recognize the President’s Day holiday on Monday, February 19.
