The Pinnacle Panthers extended their season with a 34-31 win over Water Canyon in the 1A Consolation Bracket Thursday afternoon at Richfield High School.

Faced with a win-or-go-home situation, the Panthers managed to outscore Water Canyon by four points in the second half. The defensive battle went back-and-forth throughout the contest, in a game that featured just one make from the three-point line.

Logan Ellington paced the Panthers with a game-high 16 points. Kaden Daughters finished with nine, including one make from deep. Dalton Cook ended with four, while Abe Acosta and Benjamin Scott finished with two.

Each team converted 12 field goals, but Pinnacle held an advantage at the free throw line finishing 9-23 compared to 7-13 for Water Canyon.

Thursday’s win moves Pinnacle to the consolation semifinals against Rich on Friday. The winner will advance to Saturday’s finale, while the losing school’s season will come to a close.
