PRICE – Utah State Eastern softball player Cassidy Howe has been named Scenic West Athletic Player of the Week.

Howe receives the honor after helping her team complete a four-game sweep of the College of Southern Nevada.

In the four-game series Howe batted .786 with an on-base percentage of .842 and a slug percentage of 1.643. She had 11 hits which includes six doubles, eight RBIs and two home runs.

In game three of the series Howe made a game clinching defensive play from her shortstop position that saw her run from the infield into left field to make an impressive diving grab.

This is the second time this season Howe has received this honor, she received the honor in February.

As of today she is ranked second in the country for having a .550 average at the plate. She ranks 16 in the country in doubles with 20 and second in the country in on-base percentage with .623.

As the lead off hitter for USU Eastern, she leads the team in doubles, hits, home runs, and RBIs.

Howe and the Eagles are currently in third place in the SWAC standings with a conference record of 16-16 overall.

The Eagles have won 10 out of their last 12 games and have an overall record of 21-21. An 18-game win improvement from last season.

USU Eastern hosts conference leader CSI in a four-game series starting this Friday at 1 p.m.
