There will be a Blood Drive taking place in Helper on August 3 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Helper City Auditorium on 16 South Main Street. The event has been orchestrated by Carbon High Sterling Scholar, Tyler Yoklavich the son of Joey and Heidi Yoklavich.

“It’s very important that people come out and donate. In this current period in time, the Red Cross is experiencing a critical shortage of blood. So, they have actually released an emergency call for donors,” stated Yoklavich. “There’s a lot more of a need, then there is a supply. So, even if everybody who already donates blood came out the problem would still be worsening, we need a lot of new people to come out it’s very important.” According to the Red Cross, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs a blood transfusion and approximately 41,000 blood donations are needed every day. Summer months for blood donations are critical due to school closures and vacationing donors.
