Helper’s historic Main Street will be filled with many beautiful custom classics to street rods to peddle cars for the annual Helper Arts Music and Film Festival Car Show and Burnout Contest. This year marks its twelfth year and will take place on Friday, August 17 and Saturday, August 18 in Helper.

“Friday evening, we have a burnout in Helper at the City Park. We have three different classes front wheel, rear wheel and positraction and it’s open to all cars, trucks, whatever you drive,” explained Ruth Metzger, an Event Organizer. “We score different categories distance, audience participation, control and most smoke and it’s really fun.” The cost to participate is $15.00 per vehicle which goes into the cash pot and will be awarded to the top three drivers. Registration starts at 6:00 pm and tires start burning at 7:00 pm. Organizers invite the public to come out to watch their favorite driver, enjoy some food at the concession stand and have a great time.

Saturday morning cars will begin to register and line up on the south end of Helper’s Historic Main Street from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. “The car show is open to all car classes from 1920s to present day, we have categories for that for things like special interest import, rat rods. One of the special categories we have this year is the peddle cars,” stated Metzger. There will be over 40 classes, 57 trophies, dash plaques, 50s music, opportunity drawing, food vendors and event t-shirts. The cost to participate is $15.00 for the first car and $10.00 for any additional vehicles.
