The Carbon boys golf team created massive space in the early Region 14 race with a dominating first place finish at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course Wednesday afternoon.

Entering the second meet of the season with a two-stroke lead over Delta and Union, the Dinos ended with an incredible 295 team score. Delta finished a distant second at 332, followed by Union’s 339. Juab, Providence Hall and American Leadership rounded out the field of six.

Carbon cruised past the competition with consistency in scores one-through-three. Brady Gagon, Carson Martines and Nick Olson all shot an outstanding 72. Kaden Slavensky recorded the team’s fourth score with a 79.

Individually Carbon delivered the second, third, fourth and fifth place scores. The lone exception came from Delta standout Jake Henrie, who shot a 71.

Wednesday’s domination gives Carbon a hefty 39-stroke lead overall. Gagon and Martines currently sit second and third on the individual leaderboard.
