On August 10, a press release was sent out to the media from Brad Owens with Lifepoint Health Western Group who announced that current Chief Executive Officer, Mark C. Holyoak would be living Castleview Hospital.
In his statement, Owens says, “It is with mixed emotions that I am writing to share the news that Mark Holyoak will be leaving Castleview Hospital to transition into a new role within the Duke LifePoint Healthcare system. He will be joining the Wilson Medical Center team in Wilson, NC, as their new CEO. His last day at Castleview will be September 7.” This unexpected announcement took many co-workers and community members by surprise.
Holyoak came to Castleview Hospital in 2010 as the Chief Operating Officer. In the early part of 2011, he became interim CEO as the position had become vacant and it was announced later that same year that he was appointed Chief Executive Officer. Prior to 2010, Holyoak was Chief Nursing and Clinical Officer for ten years at Ashley Regional Medical Center in Vernal, Utah.
From the get-go, Holyoak has always had the community’s healthcare in mind. He continuously looked for methods to improve and provide quality medical services. Through his seven years of leadership, he was a huge part of the expansion and structural changes of the Castleview Hospital, coupled with providing the latest state of the art technology to better serve patients in both Carbon and Emery counties. In January of this year, he was enthusiastic to announce that the hospital was looking to implement new services of medical, substance abuse, detox, and behavioral health that he was looking forward to having up and rolling by the beginning of 2019.
Not only was he invested in the community’s healthcare but he worked closely with city and county officials with the development of a new Urgent Care facility, as well as, with school officials and college administration in regards to the Career Pathways program.
It’s through his many contributions to the community that it was no wonder that in 2016 he was named Citizen of the Year by Price City.
Holyoak leaves behind some pretty big shoes to fill and will be greatly missed by those in the Castle Country area. The community is invited to attend a Farewell Party in his honor on Thursday, September 6 at 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Castleview Hospital classroom located at the south entrance, light refreshments will be served.
