PRICE – Men’s Soccer lost two games on the road this weekend to the Salt Lake Community College Bruins in Herriman.

The Eagles opened the weekend with a 5-1 loss on Friday afternoon.

“Salt Lake is a very good team but our defense gave up the ball three times on bad errors and Salt Lake is good enough to create on that,” said USU Eastern Head Coach Ammon Bennett.

Trailing 3-0 at halftime, the Eagles would come out in the first ten minutes of the second half and score a goal.

USU Eastern sophomore Mat Clark would find the back of the net in the 54′ minute to cut the Bruins’ lead to 3-1.

Less than two minutes later, Salt Lake would add another goal to put the game out of reach for the Eagles.

“The score in the second half was 2-1 but overall it was not a good game for us,” said Bennett.

Saturday’s game against SLCC was more of the same as the Eagles would lose 5-0.

The Bruins scored a goal in the first two minutes of the game and three total within the first 23 minutes of the first half.

In his over 20 years experience coaching college soccer, Bennett said this team might be one of the best he has seen.

“At times we played pretty good but this Salt Lake team could be one of the best in the Nation,” said Bennett.

Salt Lake would add two more goals in the second half to put the Eagles away and get the weekend sweep.

Overall it was a disappointing weekend but hopefully we can take care of Otero when they come to town,” said Bennett.

The Eagles will face non-conference opponent Otero this Saturday at 1 p.m. to try and snap a three-game losing streak.

Men’s soccer currently is 4-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

They will return to their conference schedule on Friday the 28 when they host rival Snow College.
