The cross country season continued Wednesday afternoon as the Carbon Dinos played host to the Emery Spartans and nine other schools from around the state at the Carbon Invitational held at the Carbon Country Club.

The Uintah Utes edged out the Emery Spartans by six points for first place on the boy’s side of the track. The Carbon Dinos finished in a distant third, easily besting fourth place Union. Payson and Juab rounded out the top six overall.

Uintah completed a sweep of the afternoon varsity events as the Lady Utes also claimed first place. Carbon finished in second, topping third place Juab by one point. Payson and Union complete the top five.

Emery sophomore Bryar Meccariello finished first individually in the boy’s competition. Completing the course in 17:15.6, Meccariello narrowly defeated Payson sophomore Colby Orton by a half second. Chase Christiansen helped out the Spartan’s final score by crossing the line in fifth.

The Carbon Lady Dinos enjoyed two top five finishes with seniors Emma Haddock and Regan Hansen finishing fourth and fifth overall. Grace Broadbear, who also is currently playing soccer for Carbon, finished eighth.
