As per Carbon County Sheriff’s Office, the scheduled Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) had a nationwide test scheduled for September 20 but have made the decision to postpone a nationwide test this is due to the severe weather on the east coast.

FEMA is postponing the *Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) test until October 3 at 12:18 p.m. our time (2:18 p.m. EDT). * It will be followed by a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System on broadcast TV and radio.

Everything else about the test is still accurate, *just please note the date change*.

*Your cell phone* and all cell phones around you should make unusual tones and display an alert message on your home screen.

Be aware that any press conferences held at that time will be interrupted.

No action during the test is required on your part. Just pay attention and feel free to screenshot the alert on your phone before it disappears.

However, in advance of the test, *please let your staff and partners know this is coming*.

Here is FEMA’s website <https://www.fema.gov/emergency-alert-test> about the upcoming test. A fact sheet page is here <https://www.fema.gov/media-library/assets/documents/169396> with a fact sheet in English and Spanish.
