In recognition of Leukemia and Lymphoma awareness month, Castleview Hospital would like to extend an invitation to attend their Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Cake Raffle Fundraiser. The event will be held in the hospital classroom located at the south entrance on Tuesday, October 9 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with the announcement of raffle winners scheduled for 1:30 pm.

“We decided to do a cake raffle because of a lot of our employees and we tried it last year and it was a lot of fun, all of the creativity that came out of our employees and the different types of cakes that they made and even different companies brought them in,” said HR/Business Director, Misty Birch. “We then asked the community to come in and look at the cakes or they could call in and just buy tickets and kind of go through and see what one gets the most tickets.” Tickets will be available to purchase, a $1.00 gets you 1 ticket, $5.00 gets you 6 tickets and $10.00 gets you 13 tickets. All proceeds raised will benefit LLS through research, patient support and information programs.

Community members that would like to purchase tickets are unable to attend the raffle event may still participate. “Anybody can make a cake, it’s opened up to the public, they can bring in a cake, the highest raffled cake will get the prize. We will have two divisions, basically one fondant and one regular type icing cake,” stated Birch. Local cake makers will have a chance to show off their baking and decorating skills. Various gift certificates from local businesses and merchants will accompany some of the cakes.

To donate a cake, contact Misty at 637-4800 extension 4021 or Paula Wheeler at extension 4026 and to learn more about LLS visit their website at http://www.lls.org/
