After participating in two away swim meets, the Emery Spartans played host to four schools in the first home competition of the season Tuesday afternoon at the Emery County Aquatic Center in Castle Dale.

Using seven top individual event performances, Emery boy’s team cruised to a first place finish with 330.5 points, 15 better than second place Payson. Rowland Hall ended third with 147, followed by Gunnison and North Sevier.

The Emery Lady Spartans edged out Payson 303 to 301. Rowland Hall again finished in third with 260 points and Gunnison closed out the field of four with 79 points.

The boy’s squad started the meet off with a comfortable win in the 200 yard medley relay. Park Stilson, Keldan Guymon, Asher Beagley and Deegan Minchey finished the event with a time of 1:51.59. Payson was a distant second with a time of 1:55.46.

Guymon continued his stellar individual performance into the afternoon with wins in the 50 yard free and the 100 yard backstroke. Guymon also joined Minchey, Beagley and Stilson to win the 400 yard free relay in the final event of the day.

Beagley also recorded two individual top finishes, locking up first place in the 200 yard IM and the 100 yard free.

Deegan Minchey logged a first place finish in the 200 yard free style. Minchey also finished second in the 100 yard backstroke in between teammates Guymon and Stilson.

The Emery Lady Spartans used depth scoring to claim their first place finish overall. While failing to record a first place finish in any event, the Lady Spartans logged 12 second and third place finishes.

Now three meets into the season the Spartans will take the rest of the week off before returning to the pool on Tuesday, Nov. 20 against the Carbon Dinos in Price. The next home meet will take place on Dec. 4 against North Summit.
