The Carbon Lady Dinos wrapped up the inaugural Carbon Challenge with a perfect 4-0 record following a dominating 59-24 win over Manti Saturday afternoon.

Opening the pre season tournament with a 53-32 win over the San Juan Broncos Thursday night, the Lady Dinos continued to roll with three more wins in the next two days.

Now sitting a perfect 4-0 on the young season, Carbon will shift its focus to a three-day tournament in Fruita, Colo. The first game of the competition will take place on Thursday. Carbon will play one game each day through Saturday.

Below is a recap of each individual game that took place at the Carbon Challenge:

Thursday, Nov. 29: Carbon-53, San Juan- 32:

Holding a slim 17-13 at the break, the Lady Dinos outscored San Juan 36-18 over the final two quarters to record the comfortable victory.

Junior Jordan Bianco led the way with a game-high 15 points, nine of which came from the three-point line. Jodi Noyes added to the Carbon offense with 14 points, while MaKenna Blanc finished with nine.

“I feel like in the first we have we came out kind of sluggish and didn’t really move the ball well on offense,” said Jordan Bianco following the win. “In the second half we got on the fast break and forced some turnovers.”

As a team the Lady Dinos finished an efficient 16-18 from the foul line, compared to just 6-11 for San Juan. Carbon converted three more field goals throughout night, but outscored the Broncos 15-0 from the three-point line.

Friday, Nov. 30: Carbon- 57, South Summit- 28:

Riding the momentum from Thursday’s victory, the Carbon Lady Dinos blasted through South Summit 57-28 Friday afternoon in the second day of the Carbon Challenge.

Holding South Summit under double-digits in each quarter, the Lady Dinos earned a wire-to-wire victory. Makenna Blanc delivered an offensive gem, scoring a game-high 16 points, which included four makes from deep.

Kaytlyn Cripps helped push the Carbon offense with eight points, while Jodi Noyes just missed out on a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.

Carbon will return later in the evening to meet Grand in the second game of the day.

Friday, Nov. 30: Carbon-66, Grand-23:

Jumping out to an early 19-9 lead by the end of the first quarter, the Carbon Lady Dinos coasted through the final three quarters to earn a 66-23 win over the Grand Red Devils.

Jodi Noyes recorded a game-high 25 points and five rebounds to push a dominating performance. Defensively Noyes played a huge role in the post as Carbon held Grand to just two points in the fourth quarter.

Abbie Saccomano, Jordan Bianco and Katelynn Cripps rounded out a well balanced offensive attack, scoring 10 points a piece. Saccomano added eight assists and five rebounds to her game total.

Saturday, Dec. 1: Carbon-59, Manti-24:

Looking to close out a perfect four-game stretch in the inaugural Carbon Challenge, the Carbon Lady Dinos easily defeated the Manti Templars 59-24 Saturday night at Carbon High School.

MaKenna Blanc capped off a dominating weekend by recording 15 points and five rebounds. Jodi Noyes finished with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Jordan Bianco stuffed the state sheet with 11 points, six assists and six steals.

Saturday’s win moves Carbon to 4-0, with an average win margin of 29.5. Carbon will now take four days off before traveling to Colorado for three games in three days beginning Thursday.
