Alfred Lawrence Montez, age 78, passed away peacefully December 2, 2018 in Roy, Utah while surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 24, 1940 in Standardville, Utah to Felipe and Susie Arroyo Montez.

Married Vivian Eleanor Valles August 19, 1967 in Price, Utah. She died July 15, 2018.

Alfred honorably served in the US Army during Vietnam. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Alfred enjoyed 4-wheeling with his friends, deer hunting, playing slots and tables in Wendover. He liked watching football and basketball with the Patriots and Warriors being his favorite teams. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survived by three sons and two daughters, Darren Montez (Claudia Petra), San Antonio, TX, Michelle (Kevin) Van Uitert, West Haven, Phillip (Heather) Montez, Riverview, Florida, Alfred (Veronica) Montez, Jr., West Valley, Clara (Slade) Smith, Beaver; siblings, Delores (Louie) Orneles, Merced, California, Mary Ellen (Terry) Quintana, Price, Anita (Lloyd) Peterson, Payson, Jessie (Nancy) Montez, Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian; siblings, Caroline Hernandez and Phillip Montez, Jr.

Funeral Mass, Saturday, December 8, 2018, 10:00 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church. Family will receive friends Friday evening at Mitchell Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Saturday one hour prior to service. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
